In response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, I began offering services via telehealth in mid-March 2020. In order to continue to provide the most effective therapy possible, I have attended numerous trainings with experts in the field of pediatric therapy and telehealth. I continue to learn every day, and have been pleasantly surprised by how well my little friends, their families, and myself have done!
Because Telehealth is provided in a child's natural environment, I've been able to help parents work through real-life situations as they occur at home. I've been able to sit inside a "calm down corner" with a child and help them use self-regulation strategies we've learned. I've practiced home exercise programs with kids in their home, using tools that they have, in order to rehabilitate following injuries.
If you're a visual learner like me, or you'd like to show your child how telehealth works, check out this video on YouTube of a typical pediatric OT telehealth session!
